Bahçeşehir University (BAU) is a university that is worthy of the slogan “In the Heart of Istanbul”. On the main campus on the edge of the Bosphorus in Beşiktaş, the center of Istanbul, there is mobility that starts early in the day and lasts an almost full day. Moreover, it is possible to come across an activity in almost every point of the university.
The first thing that catches your eye when you enter through the door of BAU will be the high number of foreign students at the university. Almost five thousand foreign students are studying at the BAU from wide geography ranging from the United States to China, from France to South Korea. When you ask why they prefer BAU, the answers are the same: “Central location and international power”. The location of BAU is obvious. To understand the international studies of the university, it will be enough to take a short tour on the university campus or the website.
Bahçeşehir University has 9 faculties, 1 school of applied sciences, 1 conservatory, 1 school of foreign languages, 1 vocational school, and a postgraduate education institute. Bahçeşehir University offers 27 associate, 57 bachelor, 107 graduate, and 23 doctoral programs. There are 4648 foreign students at Bahçeşehir University, where approximately 25,000 students study, and the rate of foreign students is about 20%. The university also has 1350 academics.
BAU provides its students with the opportunity to study in many different parts of the world through various agreements and collaborations. Moreover, it does this in cities where there are BAU Global member institutions such as Berlin, Toronto, Washington DC, Batumi, Cyprus, Hanoi, Kyiv, Pueblo, and Brockville. The “International Office” unit provides all the support for the students who want to continue their education at BAU Global campuses. In BAU, a student has the opportunity to take a course related to their department in Istanbul or Berlin, Batumi, or member institutions of the BAU Global Education Network in Washington DC. The student also has the opportunity to apply for BAU’s summer programs abroad towards the end of each academic year. Moreover, BAU Global’s summer programs abroad are open to not only BAU students but also students from all over the world.
Transportation to BAU is very easy. Located in the heart of Istanbul, Beşiktaş North, Beşiktaş South, Göztepe, and Galata campuses provide free transportation to students and academics by the university’s boats. It is possible to reach the other campus in Galata with a pleasant journey with these boats departing from the pier of the university in Beşiktaş at certain times of the day. Thus, students can move from campus to campus by getting sea air without getting caught in Istanbul traffic. The campus in Galata hosts the studies of the Faculty of Communication, especially in the new media field. There are many workshops in the media, from digital media to tablet broadcasting, from digital games workshop to news desk where the basics of journalism are learned.
Bahçeşehir University (BAU) entered the rankings of universities from Turkey in the category of “International Outlook” in the 5th and 13th in the overall standings. In 2017, Bahçeşehir University won the “Turkey’s Best Brand Award in Education” award. In 2017 and 2018, Bahçeşehir University won “Turkey’s Top 500 Service Exporters Grand Award in Education”.
Many sports activities are available for Bahçeşehir University students, both recreational and professional. Football, basketball, volleyball, table-tennis, tennis, swimming, bowling, sailing, and several other sports are all coordinated by our sports coaches at the Sports Activity Center.
